Kerry Kennedy visits the Ferrari Wineries

Her Uncle, Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy, was a big fan of Ferrari bubbles, as his letter to Gino Lunelli show, but he never came to visit the Ferrari Wineries. Kerry Kennedy, instead, in her short visit of Trento as President of the Robert Kennedy Foundation for Justice and Human rights, did not miss the opportunity of visiting the Ferrari Wineries and having lunch with Matteo and Camilla Lunelli at the Locanda Margon.
Nevertheless this is not the first time of Kerry Kennedy with Ferrari, in fact the Trentino’s bubbles celebrated the 40th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy's historic run for the presidency and the anniversary of his death in the same year. The festivities culminated with the RFK Bridge Gala, the rededication of New York's Triborough Bridge as The Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, on November 19th in New York. At the dinner, accompanied by Ferrari Perlé and Ferrari Rosé, there were. Bill Clinton, the governor of the State of New York Mr David Paterson, the major of New York City Michael Bloomberg, the Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize, and many other celebrities such as the legendary Harry Belafonte.

Perlé Nero, the new challenge from Ferrari

Yesterday evening at the Spazio Visionnaire in Milan in front of a glittering audience of great names from culture, business and finance, the Lunelli family presented the latest Ferrari creation, the Perlé Nero, a vintage which in a few days will be available at the very best wine merchants and in the most exclusive restaurants.

“Extraordinarily different. Proudly unique. A champion”. This is how Ferrari describes its latest arrival, the Perlé Nero, part of a Perlé line which belongs to the history of the best Italian bubbles and represents the first creation of the third generation of Lunellis, the family which heads the Trentino winery.

This Perlé Nero is extraordinarily different because it is a pure expression of Pinot Nero grapes: Ferrari’s history of over one hundred years has been almost exclusively written by another vine, the Chardonnay, brought to Italy at the end of the 19th Century by Ferrari’s founder, Giulio Ferrari. The Perlé Nero is proudly unique because it originates from that relish for great challenges which is inherent in the Lunelli family. The challenge with the most delicate and unpredictable of vines, the Pinot Nero, has lasted for forty years. Four decades of research in the vineyards and in the  winery that have already brought forth great bubbles such as the Ferrari Rosé and the Perlé Rosé. Now the Perlé Nero, with its captivating name, a Blanc de Noirs, created from only Pinot Nero grapes made into white wine and left to mature for sixty-six months, is a product of the 2002 harvest.

Ferrari Perlé Nero is born already great. Indeed the most popular guides have immediately heaped the most flattering praise upon it: the Espresso guide, for example, has positioned it as one of the “Wines of Excellence”, while the Italian Association of Sommeliers has awarded the Perlé Nero its highest score of five bunches of grapes.

As with all the vintages from the Ferrari winery, the Perlé Nero is an expression of only those grapes grown in the best vineyards of the Lunelli family, which lie on the high hills of the Trentino, where, owing to the climate, the soil composition and the sun exposure, there are the ideal conditions for perfect grapes. And it also a testament to the passion and creative ability of a winery which is over one hundred years old and in which the passion and the relish for challenges, while respecting its great tradition, and the pursuit of excellence are daily practice for its employees.

Arte Sella is an extraordinary outdoor museum set up in Sella Valley, one of the most beautiful places in Valsugana. The collection is comprised of art created only with materials coming directly from nature. One of the last works, The Perfect Horse, created by Heather Jansch, has been bought and donated to Arte Sella by a group of companies, one of those being the maison Ferrari. The Perfect Horse, as one can see from the picture, is a full-size horse “built” by the artist with branches gathered from the Cornwall beaches.

This year the Ferrari grape harvest will be long and very good

According to Marcello Lunelli, Ferrari Vice President and first oenologist, the grape harvest will be of very good quality, average quantity and pretty long. It’ll start in the middle of the last week of August.
Marcello Lunelli’s judgement about the grape quality contradicts the pessimistic forecast based on the spring and early summer weather. These last weeks, characterized by a remarkable temperature change between night and day, have given the grapes the best fragrances, aromas and strong acidity that meets the expectations of the Trentodoc grapes quality. The Giulio Ferrari 2008 is also expected to be extraordinary.
Unlike 2007, concludes Marcello Lunelli, the grape harvest will be anything but short. “Last Year”, he explains, “the harvest had been the earliest ever and very short due to the simultaneous maturation of the grapes of the high, middle and low hills. This year, instead, we will gather in different phases. We will start, in few days, with the vineyards of the low hill, going up gradually. The high hill will be harvested at the end of September. This long harvest will allow us to make in depth examinations, analysis and screening”.

At the Olympic Games Russia House toasts with Ferrari bubbles

It’s Russia House, but the bubbles are Italian.
Today, on the eve of the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony, the official national Olympic house of Russia, Russian Bosco Club, has begun its festivities by popping the cork of many Ferrari Brut bottles.
Russian Bosco Club can be considered the embassy in Beijing for the Russian team competing in the games. For all their celebrations, starting with the toasts for the medals won, they chose Ferrari.
The same occurred at the Winter Olympic Games in Torino: there again at Russia House the only poured bubbles were Ferrari.
The reason? The Russians love the Italian life-style and they consider Ferrari the symbol of the excellence that “made in Italy” represents to the world.
