Ferrari Spazio Bollicine, which was recently opened at the Leonardo Da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino, is both refined and elegant, cozy and trendy. A place where taking a break during a journey becomes a special event; an experience of the best of Italy where one can taste, in an environment expressive of the best Italian design, Ferrari sparkling wine accompanied by light meals made with high-quality raw materials and representative of the culinary tradition of our country.
The venue born from the partnership with MyChef Emotion, the new division of MyChef dedicated to important initiatives and Cantine Ferrari, the Italian leader in the production of traditional method sparkling wine, to create a series of locations to explore new ways of experiencing Trentodoc. Places where sparkling wine stars in the leading role and is paired in modern combinations with the flavors of Italian cuisine. This new opening comes after the first Spazio Bollicine was opened in the square of Madonna di Campiglio and the one in Naples in the historic square of Martiri and the one overlooking the exclusive town center of Porto Cervo.
Ferrari sparkling wines communicate their essence in the combinations created by the talent of Alfio Ghezzi, Michelin-starred chef of Ferrari, who highlighted the specialties of various parts of the peninsula with simplicity and truth. The simplicity of the great Italian cured meat sliced fresh at the moment, the authenticity of the products in their natural colors synonymous with freshness and in accordance with the seasons, the beauty of the shape of intact mozzarella and tomatoes, the taste of raw and marinated fish, the purity of Garda Trentino DOP oil chosen for its character never prevaricating and the fragrance of handmade bread sticks; all presented, like a market, on a large refrigerated display arranged on white ceramic trays where a mirror reflects and bids the guest to partake in excellence. Truth is also tradition and territory, presented in both simple and tasty preparations, such as roman artichokes or chicory with anchovy, in the name of the good life that distinguishes Italy in the world.
Regarding the wine offerings, alongside a wide selection of Ferrari Trentodoc - with all the labels of the house by the glass including great vintages such as Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore 1994 – there are all the still wines from Trentino, Umbria and Tuscany of the Lunelli Estates and some prestigious labels as a tribute, in rotation, to the great families of Italian wine, starting with Gaja, Biondi Santi and Allegrini.
Around the proposed food & wine , which is the core of the experience, there is an environment specifically designed by Robilant & Associates and enhanced by high-impact elements such as Bisazza mosaics. Above all there is an obsessive attention to service that allows, thanks to the skill and courtesy of staff, a sense of conviviality typical of the squares in Italian city centers.
"Born in some of the most prestigious squares of Italy, Ferrari Spazio Bollicine arrives for the first time in an airport with an innovative concept," stated Matteo Lunelli, President of Cantine Ferrari. "This is an important step because it can serve as a model to create other places in the world dedicated to the Italian art of living of which Ferrari is an expression."
The request of Sergio Castelli, managing director of MyChef, to bring this formula in the airport was greeted with great enthusiasm by Matteo Lunelli. The immediate agreement resulted in a close working relationship, combining the experience of MyChef, a leading Italian airport catering service to Cantine Ferrari and chef Alfio Ghezzi. This proposal of high-level catering, distinctive for image and content enriched the offerings at the Airport of Rome.
"The formula of Ferrari Spazio Bollicine, as well as being of great prestige, is very suitable to the airport context where customers are sensitive to quality and innovation," stated Sergio Castelli, managing director of MyChef. "And the expertise of our division MyChef Emotion is the best response in the partnership with Cantine Ferrari for the care and attention to detail."
Ferrari Spazio Bollicine is located at Terminal 1, Area B, at gate 8.
The year 2006 was extraordinary for the grapes dedicated to Trentodoc and in particular for the Pinot Noir grapes which are grown at high altitude on the slopes of the Trentino mountains.
After a rather complex start of the year, which saw a prolonged winter followed by a late spring and early summer that was exceptionally warm, the rest of the summer presented optimal conditions in terms of both temperature and rainfall. This allowed the grapes destined to become Ferrari Perlé Nero to be of exceptional quality: perfectly healthy, balanced in their acid component and particularly rich in aromatic component.
At the nose it is recognized immediately as an important and fascinating wine. It raises the intensity of red berry fruit that is accompanied by a pleasant minerality and freshness, almost citrusy, which evolves into gently roasted notes of peanuts tending to peanut butter.
The taste confirms the ambitious expectations raised during harvest and vinification: the 2006 vintage is a Trentodoc of great stature, which is characterized by an opulence that does not detract from the typical elegance of this variety. Consistent with the nose, on the palate the Ferrari Perlé Nero 2006 is characterized by a pleasant richness pervaded by a citrus acidity perfectly balanced with almond notes. In closing the minerality comes out with a remarkable persistence of sapidity.
A Trentodoc that leaves its mark and that one can enjoy immediately, but that will also be a pleasure to those who decide to leave it a few years in the cellar!

The Ferrari Vendemmia begins tomorrow, 21 August, with excellent prospects
Beginning tomorrow, 21 August, starts the harvest of the grapes from which are born Trentinodoc Ferrari. From the start we forsee a bountiful harvest with the possibility, if the current weather continues to remain stable, of attaining a peak harvest.
“The grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, that we use for our Trentodoc,” states Marcello Lunelli, vice-president of Ferrari, “grown in an extraordinary environment dedicated to the production of the traditional method of sparkling wine. Our vineyards are located up until 700 meters which allows for a strong thermal diurnal variation. This phenomenon, which in these days has reached 15 degrees C variation, is ideal for the perfect maturation of the grapes; this means high acidity and an enviable organoleptic abundance characteristic of long-lasting and elegant sparkling wines."
As for the quantity, apart from the rest of Italy where a reduction has been predicted of 10% in comparison with 2011, the Ferrari harvest should be reduced only by 5% due to a diminished average weight of the grape bunches.

A Ferrari Trentodoc tasting for the United States Congress
For the first time the Ferrari Trentodoc was served to the United States Congress, the parliament of the United States of America. Ferrari was presented at the tasting by Matteo Lunelli, the President of the Ferrari Winery and it was considered an unanimous hit. This first official entrance of Ferrari into the United States Capitol was the climax of a two day visit to the United States by a very selected Italian delegation of well-known wineries in Italy and it was all organized by Vinitaly.
On the 19 July, before the visit to Congress, there was a meeting between the Italian delegation and the Italian ambassador to the States, Mr. Claudio Bisogniero, who reinforced the Italian wines primary standing regarding quantity and value in the current American market.
The ambassador emphasized how important wine is for Italian culture and for this reason Italian wine will have a big role in the activities during the year of Italian culture in the United States in 2013.
The meeting and the following wine tasting with the members of the Wine Caucus, the Congressional board in charge of wine promotion and protection, was the key moment of this event.
“It was extremely emotional and an honor “ stated Matteo Lunelli “to see Ferrari Trentodoc being poured in the greatest monument to democracy, the United States Capitol. This initiative is one of many organized in order to improve wine culture and knowledge in the United States. We need to do a great deal more for the Italian sparkling wine, even if it is very successful in the United States, by educating the American public because our labels are expressions of different production methodologies and very different areas and each needs to be understood for its identity and appreciated for its diversity."

The best Italian sparkling wine and one of the greatest in the world is Trentodoc according to the Encyclopedia of Wines written by a world champion sommelier
Trentodoc sparkling wines? With the Ferrari brand they can now be considered the best in Italy and among the greatest in the world. And yet another confirmation comes from a wine guide signed by an expert, Luca Gardini, the current world champion sommelier. He wrote, along with great tasters like Pierluigi Gorgoni, Andrea Grignaffini and Marco Pozzali the '"Encyclopedia of Wine" (1016 pages, Dalai publisher, € 35.00), a comprehensive volume in which the sommelier using 15 years of research explains the 3000 best wines in the world.
A massive undertaking, without doubt, that among many labels also glorifies the Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore. According to Gardini this wine, vintage 1993, is once again not only the first of Italian sparkling wines, but it is among the one hundred greatest wines in the world. It is the only Italian label of dry sparkling wines in this select category.
For the record, Luca Gardini awarded the Port Vintage Nacional 2003 of Quinta Do Noval as the best wine in the world.
